In 1977, Prof. Abd ElMoneim Khalifa, and Prof. Wagdi Khalifa set up a small paint
factory in Alexandria with a goal to produce architectural paints locally. The Graviato
and Granoul exterior paints soon became the products of choice to main Egyptain
contractors.
In 1983, Protall partnered with Ciba Geigy to produce the first color concentrates in
Egypt with the same quality and specifications as it’s produced in Switzerland. Soon
after, Protall introduced high value economic emulsion paints to the market which
remained the paint of choice to millions up to this date.
As business grew, the need for larger facilities also grew. Protall has since
relocated to larger facilities expanding over 60,000 sqm, with a 100 million EGP
capital and 300 professional worker.
